Sri Krishna
says, “He knows me who knows not envy”.
When we become a slave to untruth, envy and ego, our mind generates only a defensive energy. Only the mind that moves with Truth could generate enormous power to overcome all the internal and external dangers of the world. Prophet Mohammed says, “Keep yourselves far from envy, because it eats up and takes away good actions, like the fire that eats up and burns wood”.
Gauthama Buddha says, “Whatsoever has originated will be dissolved again. Ego is a mirage; it vanishes like a nightmare when sleeper awakes”.
The greedy state of mind cannot move with honesty because the inner mechanism of such mind will always crave for more - happiness, pleasure, excitement, inspiration, recognition and so on. In this state, satisfaction will become impossible because of the perpetual search for illusory happiness. In the entire lifetime, such a mind will incessantly generate prejudice, assertion, illusion, anxiety, frustration, loneliness etc. and will become obstacle to its own happiness.
Nevertheless, there is no way left, except to wait in spiritual tranquillity for the demise of greed like legendary story of 'Bhasmasura’ from Indian mythology who incinerates himself by placing his hand over his own head. Bhasmasura was a demon, who worshiped Lord Shiva and received a powerful boon of destroying anybody including the Gods by just placing his hand over their head. After obtaining the boon Bhasmasura created panic by turning against Lord Shiva himself and Lord Shiva helplessly asked Lord Vishnu for help. Lord Vishnu, disguised as the bewitching beauty 'Mohini', enticed Bhasmasura to a dance and tricked him to place his hand over his own head.
