Customer Review: I grew up on the recipes from this book, so I admit that my opinion may be biased by the fact that, to me, many of the recipes in here are comfort foods. Still, this book remains simply one of the best basic vegetarian cookbooks out there. I agree that the preaching at the front gets a little old, and I have honestly never gotten through all of it, but the intention of this book is to teach new and beginning vegetarians how to cook healthy, protein filled vegetarian meals. Yes, the front matter is outdated and yes, she does stand on her soapbox for a long time, but this is easily skipped and reading this part has little to nothing to do with cooking the recipes that come after. And, in that capacity it works well. It provides easy, fully developed recipes that are simple to follow even for the unexperienced cook and have complete protein included. Like any cookbook there are recipes in here that are horrible, and then there are some that are amazing. I have brought the book to the attention of many friends who were new vegetarians over the years, and they have all been increadibly thankful for some guidence on how to cook something other than plain tofu. If you are just starting out, this is a great book to start with.

Customer Review: This is a very interesting book. It features in one part a detailed description of 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus and his Grameen Bank, who used microloans to help Bangladeshis, especially women, get out of poverty and earn for themselves. By issuing very small loans, the people of Bangladesh are able to build their businesses or working conditions and change their lives. I recommend this book.

Customer Review: I agree this book provides a great Yoga workout, especially for a Yoga novice like myself. As with other reviews, my only criticism is that you do have to flip some pages to follow the workout.
After each of the movements are explained, there is a section where you put it all together, with images that chronologically outline a 20-minute workout, along with a section for additional exercises to turn it into a 30-minute workout, and a section for more exercises that make it a 45-minute workout.
The problem in looking at the routines is that there are no reminders as to whether to inhale or exhale, or how many breaths to take while holding each pose. My solution was to write that info in under each picture for easy reference. On those poses where I inhale, I put an arrow pointing up. For an exhale, I use an arrow pointing down. If the book instructs me to hold a pose while breathing in and out three times, I wrote in an "up" arrow, then the number three, then a "down" arrow.
I also made a visual note (a thick vertical line) in the 20-minute routine to indicate where I need to flip over to the add-on exercises to make it a 30-minute routine. Then, it's just a matter of inserting a bookmark or folding down a page corner to find the 30-minute add-ons without breaking your workout flow.
With these slight tweaks, I find this to be the perfect workout to do when I'm traveling. You can do it in a hotel room (even a small one) and get a great workout without having to find a gym or rely on the workout facilities (or lack thereof) at the hotel.

Customer Review: This guy Mantiak Chia is amazing; he's kind of "Chopra Taoist" with dozen of books. I acknowledge him as a real Taoist and Tai Chi Master. He's for real, with a very strong background in internal martial arts and taoism (Iron Shirt Chi Kung is EXCELLENT)BUT most of his new books are kind of "New Age bla bla bla". If you want to know the Real Thing about Tai Chi Chuan and Baguazhang as Real Martial Arts,and strong Chi Kung, I strongly suggest to be in touch with Erle Montaigue. He's the ONLY known internal Master who is not after your money and you would NEVER face him on streets.

Customer Review: This author has one heck of a writing style. It's all over the place! He appears to be a well informed guy, but he's very hard to follow. He uses lots of dashes, parentheses, and notes about other chapters. Plus, there are many overuses of words such as "insofar" and "per se," which disrupt the entire flow of reading. It is not what I expected at all and am pretty disappointed.

Customer Review: This book is garbage. Tell me of one documented case of human ill-effects from GMO's and maybe I will sway. Recently the Zambian gov't turned down 18000 tons of emergency grain from the US because it was GM. People died of starvation as a result. At least take the time to get the other side of the story before taking this book as the gospel truth. I respect Nader for alot of the things he has done. This book is certainly not on that list.
