Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease: The Revolutionary, Scientifically Proven, ... by Caldwell B. Esselstyn Amazon Price: $10.85
Customer Review: My family has a history of heart disease. My brother and I have both been dealing with high blood pressure over the last few years. Although our BP is controlled with 3-5 prescription medications, we both want to see if we can get off of them ASAP. My brother read the book and started on the recommended diet about 3 months ago. He has lost more than 40 pounds and cut back on his medications. I started on the diet several weeks ago and have already lost 15 pounds and cut my medications. We both feel good and hope to cut our medications even more.
We both ate "healthy" foods and exercised regularly before starting the diet. We didn't start the new diet to lose weight, since neither of us was overly heavy. The diet can be difficult at times (traveling, restaurants, etc.), but the book provides some good hints on how to cope with such issues. I highly recommend the book to anyone who wants to truly change their health and is willing to change their lifestyle to do it. The recipes are great!
Reverse Heart Disease Now: Stop Deadly Cardiovascular Plaque Before It's Too ... by Sinatra, James C., M.D. Roberts Amazon Price: $10.17
Customer Review: this was a decent book with a lot of good usuable information. It is a Must Read for anyone over 45 who has a poor diet and is over weight. It is written by medical doctors who are interested in healing the body-not just treating the symtoms. there are also many suppliments that they recommend that are available in most stores (unlike Kevin Trudeau who recommends product not even available in the U.S.)!! It was well worth the money and I strongly recommend it to any one who is concerned about heart disease.
The Eat-Clean Diet Workout: Quick Routines for Your Best Body Ever (with DVD) by Tosca Reno Amazon Price: $13.57
Customer Review: Though I love Tosca Reno, if you've been exercising for any length of time, it's just too basic. I ended up giving this book to one of my friends who didn't exercise, but wanted to start. I would however recommend her other books on eating clean--those are great!
All Natural Cardio Cure by Allan Magaziner, Batya Swift Yasgur Amazon Price: Customer Review: Statin drugs seem to be all over the news these days. Those of us who follow science/medical news read about them all the time. They're being touted as effective for all kinds of conditions, even Alzheimers! But many people don't know that statins can have unpleasant side effects, like muscle aches and pains and memory/concentration problems. THE ALL NATURAL CARDIO CURE presents a really helpful program as an alternative to statins. I like that the book has been written by a doctor and that he is willing to recommend statins when necessary, but he offers an array of much healthier, more natural alternatives including herbs and supplements. Kudos to you, Dr. Magaziner!
Cholesterol Down: Ten Simple Steps to Lower Your Cholesterol in Four Weeks--W... by Janet Brill Amazon Price: $11.16
Customer Review: Cholesterol Down is a great book for people who want to lower there cholesterol without the risks of prescription drug side effects . The science behind high cholesterol is explained in detail and the ten steps to lower your cholesterol are easy to follow. Many great recipe suggestions are provided. Best of all is the fact that Dr. Janet Brill's program really works! Thank you Dr. Janet
If big pharma is fabricating research about cholesterol to convince doctors to prescribe statins to improve your health...how are they in conspiracy??
Do you really think that all the drugs are bad and you are better off with natural remedies...then let me ask you this ....do you think if any of these natural remedies was as wonderful as it is claimed to be, do you really think that a drug company would not snatch it and sell it to you as a pharma grade expensive product and make a fortune out of it.
Let me enlighten you:
if you read the book for entertainment ..I can see that
but if you read it for info and even worse if you believed it...then you are saying that all these legitimate people and organization such as the American heart association, American college of physicians are conspiring against you....as you would have concluded here from reading this book by somebody who claims he knows (why would you believe that he is trying to help you)
It is hard to come up with great medical discoveries but it is very easy to fabricate some cure it all sell on the internet miracle cure and get rich doing it
So who do you really think is after your money????conspiring against you????
The Eat-Clean Diet Workout Journal by Tosca Reno Amazon Price: $9.56
Customer Review: This journal goes along with Tosca Reno's Eat-clean Diet Workout Book. However,it can be used to track any weight training progress. It does have some motivational sayings/info on the pages, but nothing that's not common knowledge. Basically there are two charts: one for weekly, monthly and long-term goals and one to list the exercises. On the exercise chart are spaces to list body part, exercise, and the weight/reps used for up to 5 sets. At the bottom of the page is a space to note cardio activity and general notes. Samples of each of the charts is in the author's Eat-clean Diet Workout book and can be reproduced from there. I gave it 3 stars because you have to write in the name of the each exercise and pound used each day. Also there is not any designated nutrition notes. This is surprising given Reno's emphasis on clean eating and frequent small meals. Other journals provide space for nutrition and weights used. Reno's book might work as a motivating tool if you like to have the matching set of books. Otherwise, keep a computer based journal or use a regular spiral notebook/steno pad to keep track of your progress.

Base Building for Cyclists: A New Foundation for Endurance and Performance by Thomas Chapple Amazon Price: $12.89
Customer Review: I'm training for my first 200 mile ride this May and wanted to find a guide to help me maximize the small amount of time I have to train. This book is easy to read and follow, and I'm really seeing results. The material covers race training as well so it would be useful for people who want to train see gains for racing. The most difficult part is keeping the intensity low because it's my natural inclination to want to push it to the max.
On a recent 100 mile ride, riding at a lower perceived exertion rate than I ever have, I finished slightly faster than last year, *and* feeling refreshed. I credit all the base training I did this year following the plan in the book with my success.
