What is the Magnetic Diet?
The Magnetic Diet is a comprehensive weight loss and maintenance program that is comprised of a special combination of balanced diet, strength conditioning, aerobic exercise, meditation, and respiration techniques designed to allow you to control cravings, build muscle, reduce your body fat percentage, and improve your physical, mental, and emotional health. The techniques are based on the concepts and principles of Food Magnetism that are outlined in the e-book and audio program “The Magnetic Diet” by Nick Smith.
What is food magnetism and are magnets involved?
No magnets or magnetic devices are worn or used with the Magnetic Diet. The term "Magnetic Diet" stems from the concept and principles of the field of Food Magnetism. The field of Food Magnetism proposes that certain synergistic actions that we take amplify the beneficial effects of food on our body. Food Magnetism also says that the naturally occurring nutritional components within unprocessed food (fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, whole grains, and certain types of animal proteins) are superior to any isolated, synthesized or extracted nutritional component. For example the natural occurring lycopene that is in a tomato is far superior to the lycopene that is extracted and made into a supplement. It further says that there are combinations of compounds within natural food that our present technology cannot yet measure or detect and that when we try to extract isolated components they never produce the desired result because they have been removed from these other compounds. So in our example of lycopene – what makes lycopene so powerful is not just the lycopene itself but the lycopene in combination with other compounds that are in the tomato or the red bell pepper or the other vegetables that lycopene is found in. This is the reason that supplementation often fails to deliver the result that eating foods that naturally contain the supplemented compound does.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
Realistic expectations when adhering to the magnetic diet weight loss program can range from between 25 to 50 pounds in a six month period and between 50 to 100 pounds over a 12 month period. Due to the time period involved and the method of weight loss the weight being lost would be mostly fat. While other diets promise to allow you to lose much more weight in quicker time frames the truth is that you would be losing mostly muscle and water weight on those programs setting your self up for the yo-yo effect otherwise known as "weight cycling" by ruining your metabolism. Loss of muscle through quick loss diets is the #1 reason why most people just end up getting fatter than they were when they started once they go back to their normal eating habits.
The Magnetic Diet weight loss program advocates a healthy rate of weight loss based on creating a minimal caloric deficit of 250-500 calories per day and increasing activity levels to expend an additional 250-500 calories per day. In addition to the weight loss portion, the program also advocates a comprehensive strength conditioning regimen based on a unique method of muscle contraction called energization exercises which if you choose to can compliment a less-is-more strength conditioning plan that can be done in as little as one or two days a week in a gym or home gym environment. This in combination with a continuous improvement methodology allows the average person to increase both strength and muscle mass which helps to greatly increase the body’s metabolism.
What makes the Magnetic Diet different from all the other weight loss programs out there?
The biggest differences are in the facts that it actually works, that it is gimmick free, and that it is both a safe and healthy method of weight loss and maintenance. The Magnetic Diet and the principles and concepts of food magnetism advocate that all the necessary and important nutrients that your body needs can be derived from the foods in the magnetic diet and that the special combination of synergistic actions when followed will amplify the beneficial effects of those nutrients on the body resulting in increased muscle mass which leads to an increase in metabolism which in combination with a measured caloric deficit and expenditure results in persistent weight loss.
