American Heart Association Low-Salt Cookbook, 3rd Edition: A Complete Guide t... by American Heart Association Amazon Price: $11.16
Customer Review: I bought this book because I wanted to reduce the amount of sodium I was eating. I noticed in some of the other cookbooks I was using the amount of sodium I was taking in was quite high. I almost didn't purchase it because it didn't have any pictures, and I am glad I changed my mind. The recipes I have tried so far have been easy and very tasty. My daughters(6 & 8) ate up the Crustless Garden Quiche, Zesty Oven-Fried Potatoes, Poached Salmon, and Thyme Fish Steaks. All were very quick to make on a weeknight. Also very delicous is the chocolate chip banana bread which we have made together twice. It did not take long to make and they did most of the work the second time.
The appendix also has helpful advice on shopping, cooking , and making substitutions. I look forward to making more recipes fromt this book.
The No-Salt, Lowest-Sodium Cookbook by Donald A. Gazzaniga Amazon Price: $11.53
Customer Review: I bought this with high expectations but have rarely used it. It has plenty of bread recipes but when it comes to comfort style, downhome food,,,,I just can't find the ones that suit me or my family...we are not into the types of food you get at a heath food store or any of those special grain type things like hummas, tofu,,etc...since he is very concerned about low fat,,,he puts applesauce instead of oil, and it has me trying to figure out how to put oil back in. If you are from the South,,these yankee type foods will not make you happy...compotes, etc. There could be a much better cookbook written for the Southern taste...if you are not from the West or the South,,,you will probably like the food. There are also, a lot of errors in it..which you have to go to his website to make corrections in your book...too much trouble for me...I want a book I can trust...
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Low Sodium Meals (Complete Idiot's Guide to) by Shelly Vaughan James, M.S., R.D., L.D.N., Heidi Reichenberger McIndoo Amazon Price: $12.89
Customer Review: I just tried my first recipe from this book tonight. We had pork chops w/ basalmic glazed apples & onions. We didn't miss the salt in the least. I was so impressed - the flavor was fabulous (and I'm not big on fruit in my entrees). The ingredients were basic - no special trips to the store. Quick to make & quick to clean up. I really appreicate these qualities!
The Rice Diet Solution: The World-Famous Low-Sodium, Good-Carb, Detox Diet fo... by Kitty Gurkin Rosati, Robert Rosati Amazon Price: $16.50
Customer Review: When used correctly, this diet does work. It took a few weeks for it to really start working, but then it did. I can't say that I went hungry, and the fruit does satisfy my sweet tooth. I felt better for it also.
The problem, as with all diets, is that it is a way of life, not just there to lose the weight, and then go back to your old way of eating. Which is what I did the first time. I did eventually gain back the 20 lbs. I had lost, but I knew I was doing it, the same way I knew I was going to gain weight being on this damned computer. I let it happen.
Pardon me while I go browse the self-help section.........

Customer Review: Although there are lots of low sodium recipes, I don't think they are all healthy. There are many recipes that seem to be high in fat. Also the recipes are not as easy to make as the American Heart Association book.
