The first thing to drink when you wake up each morning is a tall glass of water. But be sure to stop drinking water well before you go to bed, so you can get a sound sleep, without getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.
Every organ in the body needs water. For water to reach these destinations, the intestinal tract must first absorb it. When you drink water, it travels quickly down the esophagus, through the stomach and into the intestines, where much of it diffuses into the bloodstream and hydrates the body's cells. The kidneys and the bladder also use of some of the water, and what's left goes into the large intestine to move fecal matter. Drinking plenty of water keeps you regular, which is absolutely essential to staying healthy.
In addition to maintaining our bodies, water plays a key role in preventing disease. If you drink enough each day, you can cut the risk of colon cancer by 45% and bladder cancer by 50%, and potentially even reduce the risk of breast cancer. Drinking too little water, on the other hand, can lead to kidney stones, an excruciating condition caused when salts and minerals in the urine begin to stick together to form small pebbles. These are usually unnoticed while they remain in the kidneys, but once they break loose and travel through the small tubes called ureters to exit the body during urination, they cause almost unbearable pain. Talk to anyone who has ever passed a kidney stone and you will realize you never want the experience. You can avoid it by drinking the recommended amount of water each day.
Pure distilled water is the best to drink. It is water collected from steam when it condenses, with the other material in water eliminated.
process your food. I don’t agree. If you eat slowly and chew thoroughly, you will have no problems digesting your meals. Moreover, a glass of water with a meal will help to fill you up faster and keep you feeling that way longer. I always drink lots of water when I eat out at a restaurant, before and during my meal. It definitely helps to prevent overeating, with all of that temptation on the menu.
